02/03/13 | The Politburo has announced today that the PDRS will immediately undergo major reforms in order to strengthen our great nation's economy and our global presence. These reforms will take the form of a Five Month Plan - the details of which are, at present, confidential - and are expected to bring imminent and glorious economic success to our great nation.

Also discussed in today's Politburo assembly was the possibility of a monthly stipend paid to all citizens of the PDRS, in keeping with the progressive nature of socialism. This measure is being considered as a way to further strengthen our nation by providing all citizens with a 'Basic Needs Dividend' in the form of a monthly payment.

Lastly, Politburo assemblies will now be held every Wednesday at 1:20pm Central Standard Time. News from all Politburo assemblies will be posted on this page.

10/04/13 | The death of reviled fascist Margaret Thatcher, heralded by the Politburo as "the worst thing to happen to the working-class of the United Kingdom and Ireland" has been celebrated throughout the PDRS, with Party leadership denouncing the former British Prime Minister as "revolting...a thing of nightmares".

Baroness Margaret Hilda Thatcher held office from 1979 until 1990, and was responsible for stirring tension between Britain and the Soviet Union. Her legacy includes the systematic evisceration of the manufacturing industry in Britain which left thousands of workers unemployed, engineering the Falklands War to ensure her re-election and collusion with an international paedophile ring which included high profile right-wing British politicians. The Baroness is also credited with the starvation of many children of working-class families, rendered homeless due to skyrocketing house prices and utility costs.

02/03/13 | The Premier announced today that the Politburo will be dissolved, effective immediately, due to ongoing strife within the government. The new Politburo will consist of Premier Daryl Paliano and Minister James Deverson, who will jointly oversee all matters of state until further notice.

07/09/12 | At a meeting of the Politburo earlier today, Premier Daryl Paliano promised stronger government resolve in building a strong economy and gaining territory for the PDRS. The Premier went on to say that by 01/05/13 the PDRS will have a fully functioning economy with the strength to fully support our nation's space programme, further solidify Straka's place in the micronational community and strengthen the socialist cause.

In other recent news, it was revealed today that the first Five Month Plan has not met the Politburo's expectations, and another Five Month Plan will commence today, hopefully culminating in the strengthening of Straka's economy and the aquisition of physical territory for our great nation.

31/05/12 | Today, the People's Democratic Republic of Straka withdrew from the League of Countries due to the following reasons, amongst others;

- The Secretary-General of the League, King Arthur of the Commonwealth of Novaltia, conducted a purge within the last week which expelled more than 40 member-states from the League because their governments advocated the 'unlawful usurpation of a government'. This act of undemocratic restructuring meant that Minister James Deverson was reduced from delegate status to observer status due to the National Communist Party's policies of advocating anti-capitalism, anti-monarchism, anti-imperialism and anti-fascism.

- The Secretary-General censored comments made by many delegates, including a message by Minister James Deverson which pointed out that the Secretary-General had broken Article I of the LoC Charter by quashing free speech and democracy within the League.

These reasons made it impossible for Straka to stay in the League of Countries. After a day of discussion the Strakan Politburo made the decision to withdraw Straka from the League of Countries.

Foreign Affairs Minister James Deverson has re-affirmed Straka's commitment to working in a productive and progressive way with all other serious, mature micronations. Straka remains a committed member-nation of the Socialist Nations Military Union, along with the Appalachian Socialist Republic and the Socialist Republic of Perejil.

16/05/12 | After a prolonged diplomatic dispute between the PDRS and the Great Kingdom of Domus due to the latter's attempted coup of the League of Countries, Minister James Deverson (acting in his capacity as a Delegate to the LoC) has submitted a proposal to expel the Great Kingdom of Domus from the League. This announcement comes after almost a month of unrest in the LoC and in the wake of an attempted coup and weeks of vandalism of the LoC forum and the MicroWiki site by the Great Kingdom of Domus and it's allies.

Dismissed as an account hacking by representatives of Domus, the nation has been widely discredited throughout the micronational community due to their attempted coup against the LoC, as well as their continued vandalism of micronation-related webpages, making obscene comments against Delegates of the LoC, widespread attempts to destabilise the LoC, and claiming that Domus and it's allies emerged victorious in the so-called 'Great Intermicronational War'. Allies of Domus have been proven to be 'sockpuppets' - fake nations created by the Domusian government to form a seemingly large alliance of nations. Administrators of the MicroWiki site discovered this during an investigation into the vandalism of the LoC's MicroWiki page by representatives of the Grand Duchy of Windhelm - a nation known to be Domus's closest ally. In the wake of this incident, representatives of Windhelm and Domus both claimed that the vandalism was due to a hacking attack and that the perpetrator used a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to hijack a Windhelm representative's IP address for use in the vandalism.

Alongside the PDRS, nations such as the Republic of Lostisland and the Republic of Nelvakk are pushing to have Domus expelled from the league, with the proposal recieving widespread support amongst LoC delegates.

21/04/12 | Today, the People's Democratic Republic of Straka officially recognized the sovereignty of the Marxist People's Republic of Burkland.

21/04/12 | Premier Daryl Paliano announced today that another aspect would be added to the political ideology of the National Communist Party. The Premier stated that the Maoist element of self-criticism will be integrated into the politics of the Party, to ensure that policies are scrutinized on a regular basis in order to find and expunge any errors and to better learn from any mistakes made. The move to integrate the element of self-criticism into Party politics has already been heralded by Minister Thomas Duthie as another progressive step for our great socialist state.

21/04/12 | Today Minister James Deverson announced that a programme promoting international citizenship has been created to encourage people across the globe to become overseas citizens of the PDRS. The 'Overseas Citizenship Programme' requires applicants to complete an overseas citizenship application form, which are reviewed by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Overseas Citizens recieve recognition as citizens of the PDRS and may also be involved in national polls in the future.

20/04/12 | The National Communist Party has officially announced that a space programme has been created today. The programme, named the People's Space Programme of Straka, will research and develop advanced aeronautics technologies. The Ministry for the People will oversee the programme, which has already made progress in the research of rocket propulsion technologies. The Premier stated today that it is imperative for the PDRS to keep innovating if we are to progress as a nation, as innovation and creative thinking are crucial elements of a progressive socialist state.

19/04/12 | The People's Democratic Republic of Straka was accepted into the League of Countries today, marking yet another successful step forward for our great nation, which continues to prosper under the guidance and leadership of the National Communist Party. The NCP has also stated today that the Politburo has begun the process of drafting a Five Month Plan. The Five Month Plan is a model for the short-term progress of the socialist state, first pioneered by President Adam Chinchar of the Appalachian Socialist Republic.
